Electric cars are generally seen as the way to eliminate or at least dramatically reduce the disastrous effects of personal transportation on the environment.  They still constitute only a tiny fraction of the cars on the road, but their popularity and availability is growing.

Greener Friendly Skies

In March, United Airlines began using a new biofuel for flights between Los Angeles and San Francisco.  The fuel is a renewable product called Honeywell Green Jet Fuel that can replace up to half of the petroleum jet fuel used in flight without any changes to the aircraft technology and it meets all current jet fuel specifications.

While 195 countries reached agreement on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in December, the city of San Diego made a major commitment of its own.  Whereas the Paris climate accord is non-binding, San Diego has gone much further.

The National Hockey League seems like an unlikely environmental ally. But a sport born on frozen lakes stands to lose a lot in a warming world. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman is committed to keeping “the air clean and the ponds frozen for future generations.”
