The recent severe weather and subsequent flooding that battered Texas and Oklahoma killed more than 30 people, and left many other victims in need of basic supplies, like water.
To that end, Anheuser-Busch – one of the world’s largest breweries – stopped beer production in one of its facilities in order to package much-needed drinking water for the Texas and Oklahoma storm victims. The Cartersville, Georgia-based brewery of Anheuser-Busch partnered with the American Red Cross to distribute 150,000 cans of water to affected communities.
Rob Haas is the general manager of the Cartersville brewery.
“Water is a precious resource for the communities where we operate. And when these communities face drought or natural disasters like this, it’s time for companies like ours to step up. It’s something that we are uniquely positioned to do in a very timely manner. So it’s a small thing we can do to help out in a disaster situation like this.”
This is not the first time Anheuser-Busch has stepped up in a big way. In fact, the company produces emergency water twice a year in its breweries, and tries to keep an inventory of it at all times. Since 1988, Anheuser-Busch has donated approximately 73 million cans of drinking water to disaster-relief efforts.
It’s refreshing when big corporations use their resources to help others in need. But no donation is too too big or too small.
